B4: TECHNOLOGY
In this section we move onto the second pillar of the Deloitte Digital Maturity model to focus on technology.
Technology is a pivotal step towards digital maturity. It comprises the implementation of tech infrastructure that advances your business, and allows flexible capacity to scale your operations. This includes embracing Agile or dev ops methodologies, developing and using appropriate tech platforms, and also having a decent cyber security strategy in place, where possible. There are many challenges of IT, some of which you will be familiar with already, for example, are you supporting your digital ambitions with IT investment?
Or are you asking your journalists to file remotely or take videos, but not providing good infrastructure, allowances or funding equipment to be able to do that?
This lesson looks at product and project methodology and the difference between waterfall and agile products and in the final section we touch on the importance of having the right tools and tech, like a good CMS, as well as some common terms and points of understanding around IT.
We also take a peek ahead at some future technologies like AI, for example. There are a number of extra readings in this lesson so if you are able to take some time to read them, it would help you to understand this important but vast topic.
