A8: SOCIAL MEDIA REVENUE OPPORTUNITIES
This is the final session of Module A. Well done on getting this far!
In this session we are going to be looking at three different things:
- Social media for journalism
- Revenue opportunities
- Social analytics
We will examine why the relationship between social media and journalism are so important. It seems one cannot exist without the other. Social media networks benefit from journalism, but similarly, media companies cannot survive without reaching the millions of readers who are now using Facebook or Twitter, among others, to get their daily dose of news. They have to be where the audience is.
We will discuss why journalists use social media and consider what role social media accounts have in product suites. We will also look at how to make revenue from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok.
Finally, we will work out how to understand social media audience analytics in order to maximise the return on investment.
Your group work will be about what revenue experimentation your media company is doing. Your team will be expected to present your findings at the final webinar.
The following videos break down some of the concepts within the module. Each video is embedded in the presentation, but has also been listed below in case you’d like to refer back to them easily:
